Trips

Not A Glum Lot puts on several trips each year. Members from the community are elected by the group to run each trip. If you’re interested in doing service on any of these trips please come to our business meetings to get involved.  Our primary trips are:

Skiing (Jan or Feb)

The group selects a mountain and a weekend and we all go skiing together. Trip attendance is usually around 80-100 people. Round trip transportation provided via chartered bus.

Rafting (June)

The group camps out for a weekend at a private riverside campsite on the scenic Delaware River in Barryville, NY. The rafting is in calm waters. Some activities available include swimming, hiking, fellowship, campfire meetings, sunbathing, s’mores, stargazing, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, blueberry pancakes, storytelling. Musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments! Children and dogs are welcome. Vegetarian food options are provided. Tents and sleeping bags are required but we have lots available to borrow if you don’t have one. Round trip transportation provided via chartered bus.

Kresge (Labor Day Weekend)

The group travels to White Haven, PA in the Pocono Mountains for a Labor Day weekend sober sleep away camp. Activities are numerous and include swimming, hiking, softball, volleyball, archery, football, basketball, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boats, arts & crafts, love mail, board games, group morning run, sunbathing, yoga, meditation, campfire meetings, fellowship, Al-Anon, s’mores, wildlife, stargazing! Musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments! Children are welcome. No pets are allowed. Vegetarian food options are provided. Round trip transportation provided via chartered bus.

Thanksgiving

A day trip to Bear Mountain Inn to enjoy the wilderness and a Thanksgiving dinner together. If you’d like to stay over at Bear Mountain you can make arrangements with them separately.

Christmas

Spend December 25th with us! Group meeting, dinner and a movie on Christmas Day!
